Huge congratulations to Melbourne Mavericks captain, Amy Parmenter, who has been named as one of just four finalists for NSW Young Australian of the Year, alongside her business partner, Molly Croft, in recognition of their inspiring work for The Tie Dye Project.
Founded by 27-year-old Parmenter and co-run with two-time osteosarcoma survivor, 18-year-old Croft, The Tie Dye Project dyes and sells thousands of products every year to raise money for sarcoma-related initiatives.
Parmenter, who relocated to Melbourne to be a part of Suncorp Super Netball’s newest franchise ahead of their debut season in 2024, said she was humbled by the nomination.
“Being recognised alongside Molly is such an honour,” Parmenter said. “We’ve poured so much into The Tie Dye Project, and seeing it grow to get this level of recognition is really positive in terms of how many more people we can hopefully reach and help moving forward.”
Mavericks General Manager, Shae Bolton-Brown, said the entire organisation was proud of Parmenter’s work outside of netball.
“Amy works so hard with everything she does both on and off the court, and this is fantastic recognition of that dedication,” Bolton-Brown said. “The Mavericks are committed to supporting The Tie Dye Project in any way we can, starting with a Mavs x TDP netball bibs collaboration, with plenty more initiatives on the horizon.”
The NSW Young Australian of the Year will be announced at a ceremony in Sydney next Wednesday, November 13.
