The Melbourne Mavericks are thrilled to announce that their 11th Player for season 2025 – Jessie Grenvold – has been elevated to the roster of contracted 10 players ahead of the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) season.
As the true embodiment of a Maverick, Grenvold became the first player to make her SSN debut in a Mavs dress, in the Mavs’ first-ever game in the League – Round 1, 2024 – as Mav #10.
A fierce and determined player, Grenvold has had a huge defensive impact on the Mavs performance since her debut in the club’s inaugural season. With seven intercepts and 22 deflections across the 11 games she took to the court for this season, Grenvold has well and truly earned her spot on the regular roster.
Grenvold’s defensive prowess is an exciting addition to the Mavs. In a career highlight to-date, Grenvold shone on court in the Mavs upset Round 12 win over then ladder leaders, the NSW Swifts, tallying three crucial gains. Her huge intercepts and ‘The Great Wall of Grenvold’ all but shut down the Swifts star goal shooter, Grace Nweke, with her incredible ball hunting abilities helping the team to take control of the play.
Grenvold spoke on her excitement to step up to a full contract ahead of the 2026 SSN season.
“I am so excited to stay with the Mavs and be a fully contracted player for the 2026 season,” Grenvold said. “These girls, this club and it’s amazing culture is just the best thing to be a part of. I feel as though I’ve really improved and learnt so much throughout this past season, and I’m so excited to continue building on what we have achieved so far as a team.”
Mavs General Manager, Shae Bolton-Brown, also spoke on Grevold’s commitment to the Mavs for the 2026 season.
“Jessie’s story is one we want to celebrate. From her taking a huge leap to move over from Adelaide for a Training Partner contract, to being elevated to 11th Player and now a member of our contracted 10, this not only embodies what it means to be Maverick, but is a true testament to her hard work and commitment to both her netball and this club. We truly believe she’s a future star not just of this club but of the League, and we can’t wait to see how she takes her game to another level in 2026."
Grenvold’s signing brings the current confirmed Mavs roster for 2026 to eight players: Reilley Batcheldor, Kim Brown, Jessie Grenvold, Tara Hinchliffe, Shimona Jok, Molly Jovic, Amy Parmenter and Jamie-Lee Price.
[With the current Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) broadcast and digital rights deal between Netball Australia and the Foxtel Group expiring at the end of next year, the end of the 2026 SSN season is the longest any club can contract a player for this point in time.]
