27-year-old Tara Hinchliffe joins the Melbourne Mavericks from Sunshine Coast Lightning for the 2026 SSN season, bringing to the team her strong intercepting instincts and defensive smarts. 

Tara made her SSN debut in 2018 with the Queensland Firebirds, before landing at the Sunshine Coast Lightning in 2022, serving the team as a key defender and vice-captain. 
Earning herself the honour of Australian Diamond #190, and captaining the Australian Fast Five team to their first ever Gold medal in the 2022 Fast Five Netball World Series, Tara’s defensive prowess is undeniable. 

We are thrilled to see Tara take the court with the Mavs in 2026 as she trades lightning for wings.
