The Melbourne Mavericks are thrilled to announce that defender, Tara Hinchliffe, has re-signed with the club, ensuring one of the competition's most respected leaders will remain in blue as she continues her return from injury and targets an exciting new chapter with the Mavs.
While her first season on-court at the Mavs was cruelly cut short by a devastating ACL injury sustained against the Vixens in Round 3, Hinchliffe's impact off the court was ongoing. Appointed vice captain shortly after arriving at the club, Hinchliffe quickly became a valued leader and trusted voice within the program, earning the admiration of teammates, coaches and staff alike.
Before injury ended her season, Hinchliffe was in outstanding form, helping lay the foundations for what would become the most successful campaign in club history. Her influence extended well beyond her on-court performances, with the defender remaining a central figure within the club throughout her rehabilitation as the Mavs secured their highest ladder finish, first finals appearance and a club-record nine wins.
The 28-year-old's re-signing represents another significant vote of confidence in the direction of the club as she prepares to complete one of the sport's great comeback stories.
Hinchliffe said she never doubted where she wanted to continue her career.
"This club has meant so much to me from the moment I arrived," Hinchliffe said.
"Obviously last season didn't unfold the way I'd hoped personally, but the support I've received from everyone at the Mavs throughout my injury journey has been incredible.
"Watching the group achieve so much made me even more excited to get back out there and contribute again. I truly believe this club is building something special, and I'm thrilled to remain a part of it."
Mavs Head Coach, Gerard Murphy, said retaining Hinchliffe was a major boost for the club.
"Tara's influence on our program was enormous, despite the unfortunate injury setback," Murphy said.
"The way she immediately embraced the club, connected with her teammates and contributed as a leader made a lasting impact on everyone around her.
"What she brought in just a few short months before her injury showed exactly why she's so highly regarded across the competition.

Hinchliffe joins Amy Parmenter and Jamie-Lee Price in re-signing with the Mavs ahead of the 2027 Super Netball season.
