As we wrap up the 2026 season for the Mavs we look back on a truly unforgettable year for our club – one highlighted by firsts and broken records, and one shaped by the passion, energy and unwavering support of our members, supporters and fans.
This has undoubtably been our most successful season in our club’s short history, highlighted by nine wins and an incredible run of four consecutive victories, leading to our first-ever finals appearance and highest ladder finish in club history (fourth, narrowly missing third by just 0.21%).
It has also been a defining year off the court, with our new training base at MSAC, setting us up for long-term success and growth.
The support behind the team has reached new heights, with a record member base of 2,680 members and outstanding crowds throughout the season, including a record-breaking game against the Vixens in Round 3 (8,463) and strong attendance at every match, including 6,513 fans at our final home game of the season at John Cain Arena against the Firebirds.
Our connection to the community continues to grow, with 36 local clubs and 1,250 participants involved in Mavs’ match day experiences, including the Guard of Honour and half time on-court experiences, whilst the Lumo Energy Community Classic grew exponentially throughout 2026, with 1,100 junior athletes representing 43 clubs having the opportunity to play on the main court at John Cain Arena just hours before the Mavs.
Meanwhile our Mavs family who haven’t been able to get to games have shown nothing but support from afar, through the Mavs’ burgeoning online communities. Instagram and Facebook social followings have expanded by 20% and 32% respectively across the season, notably reaching 50k followers on Instagram and 33k on Facebook. Longer-form content on YouTube and the Mavs App have also proved to be an increasingly popular way of staying up to date with the club’s latest news.
The Mavs Reserves also returned for their second season in the Super Netball reserves competition in 2026, and once again impressed, finishing atop the standings at the conclusion of the regular tournament, before finishing fourth at the play-in tournament in Sydney.
We’ve also seen our athletes shine on the national stage, with a record four players selected in the Diamonds squad – congratulations to Jamie-Lee Price and Amy Parmenter on their selection once again, and to Jessie Grenvold and Charlotte Sexton (invitee) to their first call up to the Diamonds’ squad. In particular, we wish Jamie-Lee all the best as she prepared to make her Commonwealth Games debut in Glasgow next month, as well as Uneeq Palavi who will represent Tonga.
Whilst we’re heartbroken our time on court is done for another year, we’re buoyed by how much we’ve learnt and how much we’ve grown. The Mavs family continues to grow, and we can’t thank you enough for how you’ve stood by our young club to date. Bring on 2027 and beyond, as one thing is for certain – we’re just getting started.
