The Melbourne Mavericks have named a match day squad of 10 to face the Adelaide Thunderbirds in Adelaide on Saturday night:
Kim Brown
Tayla Fraser
Sasha Glasgow
Shimona Jok
Molly Jovic (vc)
Olivia Lewis
Maisie Nankivell
Uneeq Palavi
Lauren Parkinson
Amy Parmenter (c)
Lauren Parkinson enters the Mavericks match day squad for the first time, following rupturing her ACL at the 2024 Team Girls Cup.
Should Parkinson take to the court on Saturday and earn her Mavs wings, she will become Maverick number 18. It will also be 755 days since her last SSN game, which was in Round 13, 2023, when Parkinson had a different surname (Moore) and played for a different team (Giants).
Mavs head coach, Tracey Neville, said it was a milestone that the entire club was incredibly proud of.
"We are so proud of Loz and absolutely thrilled to see her finally earn her Mavs wings. When she first signed as one of our inaugural Mavs contracted 10 players, I’m sure she never imagined this would be her journey, but the resilience, determination, and sheer hard work she’s shown to get back to this point has been nothing short of inspiring. From the moment she began her rehab, she committed herself to every step of the process, and to now be ready to take the court at SSN level is a huge moment — not just for her, but for all of us at the club.
"There are so few fully contracted SSN players, and Loz earned that contract for a reason. We can’t wait to celebrate her this weekend and see her realise that dream."
Meanwhile, Uneeq Palavi remains in the match day squad as a Permanent Temporary Replacement Player for Eleanor Cardwell.
