Melbourne Mavericks midcourt maestro, Molly Jovic, has claimed the title of Club Champion for the 2025 season, becoming the second-ever recipient of the annual Mavs MVP award.
In what was a stellar individual season for the Mavs co-vice captain, Jovic played 13 games in the 2025 Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) season, amassing 968.5 Net Points, 11 deflections and seven intercepts, showcasing her all-round dominance and reliability in the midcourt.
Jovic didn’t just leave the evening as Mavs Club Champion, she also earned the Wing Woman of the Year Award, voted by her teammates as the most valuable player across the season.
In a tightly contested vote, Mavs captain, Amy Parmenter, was recognised as Club Champion Runner-Up, while the club’s inaugural MVP winner, Shimona Jok, secured Third Place in the Club Champion vote count, with both acknowledged for their outstanding contributions throughout the season.
The Coaches Award was awarded to Tayla Fraser, honouring the player who head coach, Tracey Neville, and assistant coach, Nicole Richardson, thought best demonstrated professionalism, care and alignment with the Mavs’ core values throughout the season. Fraser also won the REVO Fan MVP, voted by fans after each match as the season’s standout performer.
Olivia Lewis was named Bostik Defender of the Year, celebrating her defensive excellence and tenacity on-court.
The Maverick of the Year Award – which recognises a staff member that has lived the Mavs spirit and values throughout the season – was shared between Amanda Molony, the Mavs’ Wellbeing Lead, and Amanda Shearer, SEN Teams’ Fan Marketing Manager.
Fittingly, the inaugural captain of the Mavs Reserves – who had an incredible debut season, making it all the way to the Super Netball Reserves Grand Final – Sacha McDonald, was also named the Mavs Reserves first-ever Best and Fairest winner.
Finally, four players - Sasha Glasgow, Uneeq Palavi, Zoe Davies and Lauren Parkinson - were acknowledged for making their Mavs debuts during the 2025 SSN season; officially becoming Mavs #15, #16, #17 and #18 respectively – four of very few people to have had the honour of receiving their Mavs wings.
Reflecting on both the evening and the season, Mavs General Manager, Shae Bolton-Brown, said that the night was the culmination of a lot of hard work across the season.
“While 2025 may not have delivered the results we hoped for on court, tonight was a powerful reminder of what we’re building off it. The passion, resilience and care shown by our players, staff, volunteers, and so many other key stakeholders is what makes this club special. Every award tonight tells a story of growth, grit and connection - and we’re proud of every person who contributed to our journey this season.”
“Molly in particular has had a season that was nothing short of exceptional,” Bolton-Brown continued. “Her work ethic, leadership and ability to lift those around her are what make her a true Maverick. This club is built on heart and hustle, and Molly embodies that in every way.”
After the announcement earlier this week that Eleanor Cardwell had elected not to receive a contract in 2026, her contribution to the Mavs throughout its inaugural two seasons was acknowledged and celebrated during the evening’s formalities.
Meanwhile defender, Olivia Lewis, upon receiving her award for Bostik Defender of the Year, shared the news that she would also not be returning to the Mavs in 2026, as she intends to pursue an Australian rules football career.
“I’m really excited to finally be sharing this news with everyone," Lewis said. “This is a decision I’ve been sitting on for a while and something that I’ve wanted to pursue for a long time, and now I just think it’s the right time for me to go and chase that dream.”
“I truly cannot express how grateful I am for my time with the Mavs – it's been the most special two years of my career. Although it will be from a little bit more of a distance, I’m hoping to still be based here in Melbourne, so I will be cheering them on whenever I can and always be the girls’ number one fan.”
“I’m really content with the career I’ve had in netball, and I’m really grateful for what netball has given to me, so overall I’m just really excited.”
