The Melbourne Mavericks have finalised their Training Partners for the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) season, with the elevation of emerging goaler Teal Hocking.
Hocking completes a high‑calibre group of Training Partners, which also features Charlotte Sexton, Charli Hoey and Ruby Shannon.
Hocking’s elevation within the Mavs program follows an impressive rise through the Victorian pathway. A powerful and accurate shooter, she has been a standout for the Bendigo Strikers in the Victorian Netball League (VNL), where she has delivered consistently elite output – including a 42‑goal, 91 per cent performance in Round 4 of the 2025 season.
The 21-year-old's trajectory across the past three years has been rapid. A Victorian Under‑19 representative in 2023, Hocking progressed from her junior roots at Rochester to become a leading attacking option in both the VNL and the Bendigo Football Netball League, where she joined Kangaroo Flat in 2025. She was a member of the Bendigo Strikers’ inaugural Championship squad, finishing joint runner‑up in the club’s 2025 Best and Fairest count.
Hocking already has valuable experience within the Mavs system, having contributed strongly to the Mavs Reserves across 2025, including during the club’s run to the Super Netball Reserves Grand Final during their inaugural year in the competition.
Mavs Head Coach, Gerard Murphy, said Hocking’s elevation was a natural progression for an athlete whose impact continues to surge.
“Teal is one of the most exciting young goalers coming through the Victorian system. She’s accurate, powerful and adaptable, and she consistently stands up in big moments,” Murphy said.
“We’ve watched her grow rapidly over the past two seasons - both with Bendigo and inside the Mavs Reserves environment - and she’s earned this opportunity through work ethic and performance. She rounds out a Training Partner group that brings genuine depth and ambition to our 2026 program.”
The Mavs will kick off their 2026 SSN campaign in Hocking’s hometown of Bendigo, where, fittingly, the Strikers will play in a VNL curtain-raiser against the Boroondara Express, ahead of the Mavs taking on the Giants.
The games will take place at Red Energy Arena, and tickets are currently on sale via Ticketek.
