After an impressive final home game, the Melbourne Mavericks are looking to solidify a spot in finals in their inaugural season.
The team will come up against the well versed, Adelaide Thunderbirds, whom Head Coach, Tracey Neville is well acquainted with.
Coming up against a side in the top four so close to finals, the Thunderbirds will be testing the Mavericks to well and truly see what they are made of, and will be an excellent test of skills and growth for the Mavs, longing to stamp their place as a dangerous side coming into the pointy end of the 2024 season.
KEY MATCHUPS
Shimona Jok V Shamera Sterling-Humphrey
Performing to her best, week in, week out, Shimona Jok will be against the fiery, Shamera Sterling-Humphrey. Taking five intercepts in last week’s match against the GIANTS, and 33 for the season, Humphrey no doubt will be looking to capitalise on any loose balls she can get her hands on. Jok will need to keep impressing the crowd with her dazzling leaps and strong holds if she wants to come away on top.
Amy Parmenter V Hannah Petty
Parmenter V Petty will be a dynamic matchup the audience won’t want to miss for a second. These two captains will go head to head this Saturday, leaving everything they have in the tank on the court. Parmenter’s presence on the court is unmatched, and her ability to read the play in recent weeks will certainly keep Petty on her toes.
