The Melbourne Mavericks are thrilled to announce that Maddie Hay is joining the club for the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) season.
Hay will be joining the club as a Replacement Player, after the announcement that midcourter, Molly Jovic, will miss the 2026 season, as she is pregnant with her first child.
A product of the New South Wales pathway, Hay progressed through Netball NSW programs and underage national representation before breaking into Super Netball with the Giants, where she debuted at SSN level in 2019 and was elevated to a full contract in 2020. She became a mainstay of the Giants midcourt across subsequent seasons, earning a reputation as one of the league’s most consistent and defensively minded wing attacks.
The 30-year-old will bring experience and composure to the Mavs’ engine room, with versatility across the midcourt and a particular strength at wing attack. Having previously played with current Mavs Amy Parmenter and Jamie‑Lee Price during their respective times at the Giants, Hay offers instant on‑court familiarity and connection for the Mavs’ midcourt.
Mavs’ Head Coach, Gerard Murphy, said the team was excited to have Hay on board for their 2026 campaign.
“We’re delighted to welcome Maddie to the Mavs,” Murphy said. “She’s a seasoned, high‑IQ midcourter whose ability to command wing attack and connect the centre pass to circle, which is exactly what we need.”
“Maddie’s craft - clean timing, strong decision‑making and a defensive edge - fits in really well with our identity. Plus, she already has significant experience playing with Amy [Parmenter] and Jamie‑Lee [Price], so there’s an immediate synergy we can build on.
“Of course we are going to miss Molly on-court this season – even though we are so excited for her and Cameron – but we think adding Maddie into the mix is not only going to give us great cover on-court, but add an extra leader to the group off it.”
Hay added that she was incredibly grateful for the opportunity.
“I’m so excited for this really unexpected opportunity,” Hay said. “I think this team is super strong and exciting, and I’m grateful I get the chance to actually be a part of it.”
“To reunite with Jay [Jamie-Lee Price] and Parmy [Amy Parmenter] is something I never thought I’d get the chance to do! I can’t wait to learn as much as I can from the Mavs, Gez [Gerard Murphy] and Richo [Assistant Coach, Nicole Richardson], and help contribute to a successful season.”
The Mavs will head to Canberra this weekend for the first of a series of pre-season matches.
