The Melbourne Mavericks, in partnership with Macca’s, are set to deliver a series of free community netball clinics across Melbourne, reinforcing a shared commitment to accessibility, participation and the importance of grassroots sport.
The Mavs x Macca’s community clinics will be four, full‑day clinics, giving nearly 500 young Melburnians the chance to further their netball skills and learn from some of the sport’s best. Participants can choose to register for the morning, afternoon or both sessions at each venue.
Each clinic will comprise of the Make it as a Mav! skills clinic, netball drills and skills development from our coaches, netball match play, and games to showcase participants’ new skills in a fun environment. There will also be the opportunity to meet some of the Mavs players, who will be in attendance to help participants learn.
There are 120 spots available at each clinic, and participants can register to attend via the Association that is most local to them. Thanks to Macca’s, the clinics will be completely free to partake in, and suitable for players of all abilities – from no experience to state league representatives, and everyone in between!
The clinics - running from 9am to 3pm – will be held across different areas of metro Melbourne, with the first clinic – being held this Sunday at Bayside & District Netball Association - already at capacity!
Mavs General Manager, Shae Bolton‑Brown, said the initiative reflects the club’s responsibility to invest in the community and the sport at a grassroots level, and support the next generation of players.
“Community connection is at the heart of what we’re about at the Mavs, and these clinics are a really important way for us to give back,” Bolton‑Brown said. “Partnering with Macca’s allows us to remove barriers to participation and provide young netballers with meaningful, hands‑on experiences alongside our players and coaches. It’s about access, inclusion and inspiring the next generation.”
Mary Vrancic, Senior Director of Marketing, McDonald’s Australia, said the partnership aligns with the company’s focus on supporting local communities and encouraging active lifestyles.
“At Macca’s, we’re proud to support initiatives that bring communities together and make sport more accessible for young people.
“Working alongside the Melbourne Mavericks to deliver these free clinics across Melbourne is just another way we give back locally, creating positive experiences for families and junior athletes.”
