The Melbourne Mavericks are thrilled to announce Ruby Shannon as the latest addition to their Training Partner group for the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) season.
A dynamic midcourter renowned for her speed and versatility, Shannon has progressed through the Netball Victoria pathway, representing the Victorian State Team and starring for the Western Warriors in the Victorian Netball League (VNL). Her impressive resume also includes being part of the Australian Under-21 squad that claimed gold at the Netball World Youth Cup in Gibraltar earlier this year.
The 21-year-old was a Melbourne Vixens Training Partner in 2025, where she also played a key role in their Reserves team; Vixens Academy. Recently named in the Mavericks Reserves squad for the 2026 Super Netball Reserves competition, Shannon will once again step up as a Training Partner, this time with the main Mavs squad, gaining invaluable exposure to the elite environment and continuing her development at the highest level.
Mavs head coach, Gerard Murphy – who already has significant experience working with Shannon, as head coach of the Vixens Academy in 2025 - said Shannon’s elevation reflects her talent and work ethic.
“Ruby brings exceptional speed and creativity to the midcourt. Her ability to apply relentless pressure and deliver quality ball to her shooters makes her a fantastic fit for our program. We’re excited to see her thrive in this next stage of her career.”
The Mavs will announce a fourth training partner in the new year.
