The Melbourne Mavericks are proud to announce a new chapter in their journey, with the team set to relocate its training base to the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) ahead of the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball season.
Following the conclusion of a successful two-year lease agreement with Waverley Netball Centre, the Mavs are excited to move into a centrally located facility that offers a complete high-performance environment under one roof. MSAC will now serve as the club’s central hub for training, recovery and physical preparation, supporting the team’s ambitions both on and off the court.
The Mavs extend their sincere thanks to Waverley Netball Centre, which provided a welcoming and supportive first home during the club’s formative years. The south-east corridor of Melbourne remains a priority for the Mavs, and the club will continue to maintain a strong presence at Waverley through community appearances and grassroots engagement.
The move to MSAC reflects the club’s commitment to delivering elite performance outcomes while remaining deeply connected to the Victorian netball community.  The new base will allow the Mavs to strike the right balance between accessibility, infrastructure and industry high performance standards.
Kate Roffey AM, Chief Executive Officer of State Sport Centres, said she was thrilled to welcome another elite sporting team to the home of high performance sport in Victoria.
“As proud supporters of women’s sport we are delighted that the Mavericks have an elite training base at MSAC. The Mavs are now one of four elite professional women’s team training at State Sports Centre venues, joining the Melbourne Vixens and HC Melbourne at the State Netball Hockey Centre, and the Southside Flyers at the State Basketball Centre.”
Richard Simkiss, CEO of SEN Teams, which holds the Mavericks license, said the transition marks an exciting step forward for the club.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Waverley Netball Centre for being such a wonderful foundation for the Mavericks over our first two seasons. As we look to the future, MSAC offers us the opportunity to bring all elements of our high performance program together in one world-class venue.
“We’re committed to growing our community footprint across Victoria, and this move will help us continue to make the Mavs brand accessible to grassroots netballers while supporting our elite athletes with the best possible environment.
“A special thanks to Michelle and Ian George for their support out at Waverley during our crucial formative years – they did a lot to help us turn around a training base for a brand-new elite sporting franchise in an incredibly short amount of time, and they’ll forever be part of our club’s story.”
