The Melbourne Mavericks are excited to announce that Molly Jovic has signed a one-year contract extension, making her the fourth player to commit to the club for its inaugural three seasons.
Jovic, who was elevated to co-vice captain for the 2025 season, has not only been an integral member of the inaugural Mavs cohort off the court, but is a powerhouse on it. The midcourter’s connection with her teammates and ability to read plays sets her apart. Jovic brings excitement as she charges through the middle with great attacking drives and key defensive efforts.
Jovic has arguably had one of her best SSN seasons to date in 2025. Taking to the court for 13 games during the regular season, Jovic amassed a total of 968.5 Net Points, plus finished the season ranked fourth in the League for goal assists with 255 – the only Centre and player not to be part of a national squad to be named in the top five.
Jovic expressed her excitement about extending her time with the Mavs until at least the end of the 2026 season.
“I am really proud to continue my journey at the Mavs,” Jovic said. “I think - as we showed particularly during the latter stages of the season - we are building something special and growing together as a club. Hopefully we can continue that momentum into the 2026 season. The support from our fans is growing and I am excited to continue to represent them.”
Mavs General Manager, Shae Bolton-Brown, added her excitement about a player of Jovic’s calibre and character further committing to the club.
“Molly has been a key part of our club from the beginning – she has always been a leader, but stepping up into the role of co-vice captain this season has really solidified this ability in her. We have seen her connection with the team on-court and fans off-court continue to grow across years one and two of the Mavs, and can’t wait to see it continue into year three.”
Jovic’s re-signing marks another key piece of the Mavs’ 2026 roster puzzle, as she joins Kim Brown, Shimona Jok and Amy Parmenter as current Mavs committed to the club until at least the end of the 2026 season.
[With the current Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) broadcast and digital rights deal between Netball Australia and the Foxtel Group expiring at the end of next year, the end of the 2026 SSN season is the longest any club can contract a player for this point in time.]
