The Melbourne Mavericks would like to acknowledge and thank outgoing players Tayla Fraser and Sasha Glasgow, after the announcement that the pair of inaugural Mavs will not be returning to the club for the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) season.
Fraser – ever dynamic on and off the court – arguably took her game to a new level in 2025 as the club’s starting wing attack. Mav #4 who played 26 games for the club after taking the leap to move south away from her loved ones and the NSW Swifts, has informed the club that she will be pursuing an opportunity elsewhere next season.
Glasgow – one of the League’s most potent shooters from the two-point range, and 2022 Grand Final MVP for West Coast Fever – suffered a horrific compound leg fracture in the Mavs’ first-ever hit out; a practice match at Waverley Netball Centre. The ever-disciplined Glasgow fought back to play nearly a full season in 2025 as the Mavs’ starting goal attack. As announced earlier in the week, Glasgow has opted to return to the Fever in 2026.
Mavs General Manager, Shae Bolton-Brown, paid tribute to the pair.
“It’s always sad when we have to farewell members of our Mavs family, but especially our inaugural Mavs, who will forever have paved such an important part in our club’s history,” Bolton-Brown said.
“Tay’s presence on and off the court is irreplaceable, but also, we’ve seen how hard she’s worked and how much she has improved in just the two short years she’s been with us, so we have no doubt there are more big things she will achieve in her future.
“For Sasha to come back from one of the worst injuries we’ve ever seen on a netball court is a huge achievement in itself, so the fact that she now has 13 SSN games under her belt since then is a true testament to who she is both as a person and as a player,” Bolton-Brown concluded.
The Mavs currently have seven players announced as being contracted with the club for 2026: Reilley Batcheldor, Kim Brown, Tara Hinchliffe, Shimona Jok, Molly Jovic, Amy Parmenter and Jamie-Lee Price.
