The Melbourne Mavericks are pleased to confirm that Tracey Brereton and Jacinta Todd will return to lead the Mavericks Reserves program for the 2026 season, following an outstanding inaugural year in charge.
Brereton will again take the reins as Head Coach, with Todd continuing in her role as Assistant Coach. The duo guided the Mavs Reserves to a Super Netball Reserves Grand Final appearance in their debut season, establishing a strong foundation for the club’s pathway program and earning widespread respect for their leadership, connection and clarity in developing emerging athletes.
Brereton continues to build an impressive coaching résumé, currently also serving as Head Coach of the Bendigo Strikers in the Victorian Netball League (VNL). Her experience, teaching capacity and ability to fast‑track talent were instrumental in last year’s Mavs Reserves campaign.
Affectionally known as ‘Toddy’, Assistant Coach Todd brings further high‑performance insight, currently contributing to the City West Falcons’ coaching panel, who are the reigning premiers in the VNL. Known for her technical eye and athlete‑centred approach, Todd’s return ensures continuity and growth for the program as it enters its second year.
Nicole Richardson, Melbourne Mavericks Assistant Coach and Head of Pathways, said the club is thrilled to retain the coaching pair for 2026.
“Tracey and Toddy set an exceptional standard in our inaugural season, guiding our Reserves team all the way to a Grand Final and establishing a culture of hard work, ambition and care,” Richardson said.
“Their commitment to developing our emerging Mavs is second to none, and we’re incredibly proud to have them leading our pathway program again in 2026. With their experience across the VNL and their connection to our club environment, our athletes are in the best possible hands.”
The Mavs Reserves program continues to play a crucial role in identifying, nurturing and elevating future Super Netball talent, with the returning coaching team set to drive another year of growth, opportunity and high‑performance development.
