The Melbourne Mavericks are strongly represented in the 2026–27 Australian Diamonds squad, with four players selected in the national program ahead of a crucial international period for Australian netball.
Jessie Grenvold, Amy Parmenter, Jamie-Lee Price and Charlotte Sexton (invitee) have all been named, highlighting the strength of the Mavs’ program and the impact of their performances throughout the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) season.
The squad has been selected ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in July and the Constellation Cup against New Zealand in October, as the Diamonds build towards a major international window – which includes a home Netball World Cup in Sydney in 2027 - and continue to develop depth across the program.
Mavs defender, Jessie Grenvold, has been rewarded for a breakout season, in what is incredibly also her first season with a full SSN contract. Currently leading the League in intercepts (29) - ahead of some of the world’s best defenders – Grenvold has taken her opportunity with two hands, earning the Mavs’ starting GK bib and playing well above her listed 185cm height.
“It’s all so surreal and something I never could’ve imagined for myself,” Grenvold said. “I’m so beyond grateful for the opportunity and owe a lot to my Mavs family who always left room for me to grow and improve. I can’t wait for the opportunity to make them proud.”
Mavs’ captain, Amy Parmenter, has once again been recognised once again at national level, earning selection following another consistent and high-impact season on court but also as a valued leader within the Australian netball community.
“I’m super excited to be a part of the squad again this year,” Parmenter added. “It’s always such an awesome experience getting to be amongst that environment and looking forward to the next 12 months in green and gold.”
In her first year with the Mavs, the reigning recipient of the Liz Ellis Diamond Award is unsurprisingly also an inclusion in the latest Diamonds’ squad, as she has her eyes firming on making her first Commonwealth Games team.
“It’s always a nervous phone call to receive and always so rewarding when you hear the good news. It’s one you never take for granted and makes me very happy.”
“I’m also so proud of all our [Mavs] girls that made the squad,” Price continued. “I think it’s so well deserved and a true reflection of the hard work that they have put in this year, but also of the culture that we are creating here at Mavs, and that’s a huge compliment to our coaching staff as well. A super-proud moment for sure!”
Meanwhile, young, Bendigo-born talent, Charlotte Sexton, has been selected as a Diamonds invitee, gaining her first opportunity in the senior environment following a strong domestic campaign. Sexton is another player who has demonstrated a meteoric rise since crossing over to the Mavs’ environment ahead of the 2026 season, being promoted from Training Partner to 11th Player to Permanent Replacement Player in the Mavs’ match day squad of 10.
“It was so surreal to me,” Sexton said, “but I’m so grateful for the opportunities I’ve had this year and the support from Mavs in getting me to that position, as it wouldn’t have been possible for their belief in me.”
Mavs Head Coach, Gerard Murphy, said the selections were a reflection of both individual performance and the growth of the club’s program.
“It’s a great reflection of the season that the girls are having,” Murphy reiterated. “Three players in the squad and Charlotte being added as an invitee is a terrific indication of the growth and performance of the girls this year. The relationships have really built, they’ve really put the work in and [they] just continue to improve as the season has gone on.”
The Diamonds squad will continue preparations ahead of the Commonwealth Games, with the final team to be selected in the coming weeks.
Mavs fans will have the opportunity to see all four of their newest Diamonds representatives in action when the team returns to John Cain Arena on June 13 for their final home game of the regular season. Supporters can lock in their 2027 membership and secure a 2026 member for just $1 to make sure they don’t miss a moment of the action!
