The Melbourne Mavericks will host the West Coast Fever this Saturday, June 14, in their penultimate home game of the 2025 Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) season at John Cain Arena.
The Round 10 clash will also be what has now become the club’s annual Orange Game; a powerful initiative to raise awareness and support for victim-survivors of family and domestic violence.
Thanks to the Mavs’ Official Community Partner, Lumo Energy, the two organisations will be working with RizeUp Australia, using this weekend’s match to shine a light on the urgent need for practical, immediate support for those escaping violence.
The Orange Game is more than just a match; it’s a movement. Fans are encouraged to donate $2 when purchasing tickets via Ticketek. On game day, attendees can also bring new and essential pantry items to the RizeUp Donation Zone at John Cain Arena. These items will go directly to RizeUp’s Homes Program, which furnishes safe and comfortable spaces for individuals and families starting over.
The Mavs will also be showing their support on-court by wearing orange playing bibs.
Craig Hutchison, CEO of SEN, which owns and operates the Melbourne Mavericks license, said that the club was proud to be involved in such an important and topical initiative.
“The Orange Game is a powerful reminder of the role sport can play in driving social change. The Mavs are proud to stand with Lumo Energy and RizeUp to support families in crisis and raise awareness of an issue that affects far too many Australians.”
Iain Graham, CEO of Lumo Energy, added:
“Domestic and family violence is a serious issue that impacts a large number of Australians every day. It requires each of us to take responsibility and act, and this is why we’re proud to offer flexible support to our most vulnerable customers.
"We’re committed to contributing to the community. Our partnership with the Mavericks for the Orange Game allows us to amplify the message that family violence must end, and that together, we can help those affected."
Nicolle Edwards, CEO of RizeUp Australia, said:
“When families flee violence, they often leave with nothing. The support from the Mavericks and their fans will help us provide the essentials that make a house a home. We’re incredibly grateful for this partnership and the impact it will have.”
The first centre pass between the Mavs and Fever will be at 5pm AEST, with doors opening from 3.30pm AEST so fans can start dropping off their donations.
