The Melbourne Mavericks are excited to announce their inaugural Mavs Reserves squad ahead of the upcoming 2025 Super Netball Reserves competition.
Following the recent announcement by Netball Australia that the Super Netball Reserves competition would be returning in 2025, the Mavs announced their entrance into the crucial development pathway competition, becoming the eighth Suncorp Super Netball (SSN)-affiliated team in the league.
In an exciting opportunity for aspiring Victorian netballers and a significant step in growing the Victorian pathway, after a series of trials, the Mavs are pleased to reveal to the 12 players in their inaugural Mavs Reserves squad:

Taylah Brown (Boroondara Express)
Zoe Davies (Bendigo Strikers)
Chloe Duke (Hawks Netball)
Teal Hocking (Bendigo Strikers)
Charli Hoey (Geelong Cougars)
Sacha McDonald (Casey Demons)
Mackenzie O’Dwyer (Bendigo Strikers)
Millie Roach (Southern Saints)
Leila Simpson (Boroondara Express)
Eryn Stocker (Hawks Netball)
Mia Van Wyk (Southern Saints)
They will be joined by Mavs Training Partners Nyah Allen (North East Blaze), Jessie Grenvold (Southern Saints), Montana Holmes (City West Falcons), Uneeq Palavi (City West Falcons) and Emma Walters (Bendigo Strikers), pending their SSN commitments.
Tracey Brereton, inaugural head coach of the Mavs Reserves, expressed her excitement at the selected squad.
“This squad is filled with talent, and I am excited so see how we develop and grow, not only as a team but also as individual players. This competition will allow these girls to compete and prepare for SSN level, especially for our young stars who haven’t played in the Super Netball Reserves before.”
“This is a really exciting time for the Victorian netball pathway,” added Melbourne Mavericks Assistant Coach and Head of Pathways, Nicole Richardson. “The Super Netball Reserves is the premier competition for emerging Australian netball talent, and so we are thrilled to be able to provide another opportunity for blossoming Victorian talent who are aspiring to reach that top level, with a second Victorian Super Netball Reserves team.”
The squad commenced official training last week, are they prepare for the 2025 Super Netball Reserves season, which commences in May.
The Mavs Reserves will host their first ever game at Waverley Netball Centre on Saturday 3 May, when they take on the Firebirds Futures.
