The Melbourne Mavericks are thrilled to announce experienced defender, Kate Eddy, has signed with the club as a Training Partner ahead of the 2027 Super Netball season, adding one of the competition's most accomplished and respected players to the Mavs line-up.
Widely regarded as one of the premier wing defences in the League, Eddy arrives at the Mavs following a distinguished career spanning 123 Suncorp Super Netball appearances across the Melbourne Vixens and NSW Swifts. A three-time premiership player and proven performer on the biggest stage, the Victorian brings a wealth of experience, leadership and defensive expertise to the Mavs.
Eddy departs the Vixens after seven seasons, having played a key role in one of the competition's most successful eras. During her time in navy blue, she helped guide the club to two Suncorp Super Netball premierships and three consecutive Grand Final appearances between 2024 and 2026. Prior to returning home to Victoria, Eddy was also part of the NSW Swifts squad that secured the 2019 premiership.
A former Australian Under 21 vice-captain and graduate of the Victorian netball pathway, Eddy has built a reputation as one of the game's most versatile and selfless defenders. Equally capable across wing defence and goal defence, her trademark work rate, competitiveness and ability to shut down some of the competition's best attacking players have made her one of the most highly respected players in the league.
Eddy said she was incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join the Mavs.
"I'm really excited to be joining the Mavs and beginning a new chapter in my netball career," Eddy said.
"I'm incredibly thankful for the opportunity the club has given me and I'm looking forward to being part of what is already a really exciting journey.
"The Mavs achieved some incredible things last season and it's clear there is a strong culture, ambition and belief within the group. I'm excited to get to work with my new teammates and contribute however I can.
"I've always admired the way the club has gone about building its identity and I'm grateful for the chance to become part of that story."
Mavs Head Coach, Gerard Murphy, said securing a player of Eddy's calibre was significant for the club.

Eddy will join Charlotte Sexton as a Training Partner ahead of the 2027 Super Netball season, alongside the Mavs' contracted squad of 10: Reilley Batcheldor, Kim Brown, Jessie Grenvold, Tara Hinchliffe, Sacha McDonald, Shimona Nelson, Tyler Orr, Amy Parmenter, Jamie-Lee Price and Zara Walters.
