The Melbourne Mavericks are thrilled to announce that the club's inaugural captain, Amy Parmenter, has re-signed with the club on a two-year deal, ensuring one of the club's foundational leaders will remain in Mavs colours as the team continues its pursuit of sustained success in the world's premier netball league.
A foundation player and leader since day one, Parmenter has been at the heart of the Mavs' journey from the club's inaugural season through to its historic breakthrough campaign in 2026. A relentless competitor and respected leader, she has helped shape the identity, standards and culture that have become synonymous with the Mavs.
Parmenter's influence was never more evident than during the club's record-breaking 2026 season, which delivered the Mavs' highest ladder finish, first finals appearance and a club-record nine wins. Amid significant roster turnover and injury challenges, the inaugural captain provided a steady presence on and off the court as the Mavs established themselves as a genuine contender in Super Netball.
The Australian Diamond again led by example throughout 2026, playing all 15 matches and producing another outstanding defensive campaign. Parmenter finished the season ranked fifth in the competition for intercepts (27) and sixth for deflections (60), while also taking on increased leadership responsibilities following the absence of fellow members of the leadership group. Her consistency and impact were recognised at the club's annual Awards Night, where she finished third in Club Champion voting.
Parmenter said signing on for a further two seasons was an easy decision.
"This club means so much to me and signing on for another two years was a really easy decision," Parmenter said.
"I've been fortunate to be part of the journey since the very beginning and to see how much this club has grown in such a short period of time has been incredibly special.
"Last season showed what this group is capable of. We achieved some amazing milestones together, but I genuinely believe there's still so much growth ahead for us. The people, the culture and the ambition of this club make it a place I want to continue being part of."
Mavs Head Coach, Gerard Murphy, said retaining Parmenter was a significant statement for the club's future.
"Amy has been the heart and soul of this club since day one and we're delighted she'll continue her journey with the Mavs for a further two seasons," Murphy said.
