The Melbourne Mavericks are thrilled to announce that defender, Jessie Grenvold, has re-signed with the club, locking in one of Australian netball's brightest young talents for a further two seasons.
A foundation Maverick and the first player to make her Super Netball debut in Mavs colours, Grenvold enjoyed a remarkable rise in 2026, establishing herself as one of the competition's premier defenders and playing a key role in the club's historic first finals appearance.
After earning a full-time contract ahead of the season, Grenvold seized her opportunity with both hands. The 23-year-old played all 15 matches and finished the year ranked fourth in the League for intercepts (33) and fifth for deflections (61), helping anchor a Mavericks defence that was among the competition's most disruptive units.
Her outstanding season was recognised at the club's annual Awards Night, where she finished runner-up in Club Champion voting and was also voted Wing Woman of the Year (Players' Player Award). Further accolades followed on the national stage, with Grenvold rewarded with her maiden Australian Diamonds squad selection, and travelled to Scotland as a reserve for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Grenvold said the club's belief in her had made her decision to re-sign an easy one.
"This club has given me incredible opportunities and helped me grow so much as a player and person," Grenvold said.
"To go from training partner, to 11th player, to earning a full contract and then having the season we had as a group last year has been pretty special.
"We've built something that everyone is really proud of and I genuinely believe there's still so much more ahead for us. I'm excited to continue that journey with this club and this playing group."
Mavs Head Coach, Gerard Murphy, said retaining Grenvold was a significant priority for the club.
"Jessie was one of the great success stories of the 2026 season, not just for the Mavs but for Australian netball in general," Murphy said.
"She embraced every challenge that came her way and quickly established herself as one of the most exciting young defenders in the competition.
"What impressed me most wasn't just her on-court performances, but the way she continues to challenge herself to keep improving every session and establish strong trusted relationships across the team.”

Grenvold joins Reilley Batcheldor, Kim Brown, Tara Hinchliffe, Sacha McDonald, Shimona Nelson, Tyler Orr, Amy Parmenter, Jamie-Lee Price and Zara Walters in committing to the Mavs ahead of the 2027 Super Netball season.
