Mavs coach Gez Murphy has answered questions about the team's approach to super shots after the 12-goal loss against Fever at John Cain Arena on Sunday.
The opening 15 minutes of the match were nothing short of brutal with the deficit 13-goals by the first break.
While the home side clawed things back and looked to have a late chance at snatching victory, numerous missed opportunities at the super shot sealed the Mavs' fate.
Asked about what he saw happening, Murphy said: "The start was the killer. The first quarter was rubbish.
"We showed we can do it, but when you get that far ahead for them.
"We have four different (super shot) strategies they can run and it does not involve them standing in the two point. One is in one is out.
"They haven’t been executing; the momentum part is getting there, but once they get the shooting opportunity the other part is not happening, then they're under too much pressure. They fake it, delay and they're losing the flow.
"The reality is, if that’s Shimona the rebound is fine. For the others that’s not helpful. The reality of the last 10 minutes was not switching on to the moment."
