Shooting sensation Shimon Nelson was proud of her Mavs teammates for grinding out the win against the Firebirds at the weekend in a one-goal victory which saw them back to fourth on the SSN ladder.
The round 7 clash means the Mavericks have played each side once this season and now have a good guidebook on their rivals as the team looks to secure its first ever finals berth.
"We did grind it out to the end," Nelson said afterwards. "We didn’t drop out shoulders, we stood our ground.
"We implemented what we did at training. We didn’t get too flustered, we were patient on the feeds."
