The Melbourne Mavericks are thrilled to announce that defender, Kim Brown, has re-signed with the club, securing one of the team's most consistent and influential performers as the Mavs continue to build on the most successful season in club history.
A foundation Maverick, Brown has been a key part of the club's journey since its inaugural season, taking the court in every match in club history and helping establish the defensive standards that have underpinned the Mavs' rise.
Brown played a pivotal role in the Mavs' breakthrough 2026 campaign, featuring in all 15 matches as the club secured its highest ladder finish, maiden finals appearance and a club-record nine wins. The experienced defender finished the season with 17 intercepts, 51 deflections, 18 rebounds and 715 Net Points, highlighting her consistency and impact across the defensive end.
Since arriving at the Mavs ahead of the club's inaugural season, Brown has become synonymous with the team's growth. In 2025, she celebrated her 100th national league match and was recognised as runner-up MVP at the club's inaugural Awards Night, further cementing her status as one of the team's most valuable contributors.
Brown said she was excited to continue helping drive the club forward.
"This club has become a really special place for me, and I'm thrilled to be continuing my netball journey with the Mavs," Brown said.
"To have been here since day one and see how far we've come in such a short time has been incredibly rewarding.
"Last season was a really important step forward for our group, but I genuinely feel like there's so much more we can achieve together. We've built a strong foundation and I'm excited to keep contributing to what we're creating here."
Mavs Head Coach, Gerard Murphy, said retaining Brown was a significant result for the club.
"Kim embodies everything we want this club to stand for," Murphy said.
"She's incredibly professional, fiercely competitive and someone who consistently puts the team first.
"Her contribution goes well beyond the statistics. She sets standards, leads through her actions and is one of those players teammates love playing alongside.
"As a foundation player, Kim has helped shape the identity of this club and we're delighted she'll continue to be part of our journey moving forward."
Brown joins Reilley Batcheldor, Tara Hinchliffe, Shimona Nelson, Amy Parmenter, Jamie-Lee Price and Zara Walters in recommitting to the Mavericks ahead of the 2027 Super Netball season.
