SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Community Classic - 11.40am to 3:30pm. Participants are able to stay the entire time if they wish!
Coach the Coach - 2.30pm to 3.30pm. In the Western Lounge at John Cain Arena, Mavs' Head Coach, Gerard Murphy, will be hosting a 'Coach the Coach' session for junior coaches, volunteers or staff interested in sitting down with Gez and learning from his insights and experience. If coaches are interested in joining, it’s FREE and people can redeem a ticket here.
Members Lounge - open from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. For those sticking round or participating in the Coach the Coach session, the 'Flying Goose' Members Lounge will be open and a cash bar available. To access the Members Lounge from 3.30PM, you will require a ticket to the SSN game to be scanned in.
Super Netball Reserves - 4.40pm. Watch our Mavs Reserves take on the Sunshine Coast Lightning Bolts from 4.40pm on the John Caine Arena!
SSN Game - 7pm. Watch the Melbourne Mavericks take on the Sunshine Coast Lightning in our must-win Round 11 clash!
SSN Lap of Honour - 7.20pm. Meet at the Lumo Energy Community Classic entry point as the second quarter starts where all Lumo Energy Community Classic participants will be taken courtside to parade around the court at half time and celebrate their participation in the day!
KEY EVENT INFO
Location: John Cain Arena (enter via Gate 6)
Arrival: Please arrive 30 minutes before your game starts, to ensure smooth entry into the venue and to support teams playing beforehand!
Game format: 20-minute match (2 x 9 min halves), with SSN super-shot rules and rolling substitutions in play. There will be a 5-minute interval between games for teams to be on court for a quick warm up!
Umpires: Each team must provide an umpire where possible - doesn't need to be a certified umpire, just someone comfortable in helping out!
Parking: Pre-booked parking available in the Eastern Plaza.
Food & beverage: Available for purchase on the concourse throughout the day
Balls & bibs: Melbourne Mavericks will provide match balls and alternative bibs, but please bring any additional you may need.
What to bring: Any medical equipment or medicine needed – please ensure inhalers, EpiPens, medicine, or anything you may need on the day is brought with you.
VENUE REQUIREMENTS
No glass or cans are allowed into the venue upon arrival.
All participants and attendees must exit the venue prior to 3.40pm to then scan back into the venue with their Ticketek ticket for the SSN game.
TICKETS
ENTRY: All attendees on the day - regardless of if they’re a player, coach, staff, parent, etc. – will need to redeem a FREE ticket to the Lumo Energy Community Classic here.
Please note: this ticket does not permit entry into the Melbourne Mavericks v Sunshine Coast Lightning SSN game – it is strictly valid for the Lumo Energy Community Classic ONLY.
If anyone does not have a ticket to the SSN game at 7pm, they can purchase via Ticketek and use the code 'MMAVS20' for 20% off tickets.
SSN GAME INVOLVEMENT
At the beginning of the 2nd quarter circa (~7.20pm), all participants are invited to meet back at the Lumo Energy Community Classic meeting spot (inside the concourse, outside door 4) and be a part of our half time SSN Lap of Honour. This is a chance to walk the court in front of the crowd and shout out your club - where all teams will receive a shout out from our MCs and big screen!
Final call for this activation will be 7.25pm (or 5 minutes into the 2nd quarter) where we will take the group courtside in preparation.
Clubs are invited to bring posters or team banners to parade with them around the court - think Olympics opening ceremony! On the day throughout the Lumo Energy Community Classic we will have a station set up for teams to make their own posters if needed!
